History of the Chief Instructor:

Master Jansa was born in Darby, PA, and started his Tang Soo Do training in 1972 at the College of DuPage under Dick Provost. That humble beginning has now branched into a full-time instructor's position at his own studio and part-time instructing at the College of DuPage. Even though he has an Associates of Arts Degree, he decided to dedicate his life to teaching and training in martial arts full-time.
Many of his family members are also involved in the World Tang Soo Do Association. His wife, Mary, faithfully helps him accomplish many tasks as a studio owner and Master instructor. His children Brian and Bridget are both in the Tiny Tigers program. It's exciting to see his extended family also involved. His brother-in-law Patrick, sister-in-law Bernie, and his niece Treacy are all currently training. Besides his training in Tang Soo Do, Master Jansa has expanded his studies into the martial arts of Hapkido, Judo and Tae Kwon Do. Hapkido training was featured in his Master's thesis.
Along with training students in his dojang, Master Jansa has also trained many students that have become police officers, CIA, and DEA Agents. In addition he has been certified to train on the 24 and Quick Cuffing for police officers. One of the strongest aspects of Tang Soo Do is its desire to give back to the community. Eagle Academy participates in Kick-A-Thons, Break-A-Thons, Candy Sales, Holiday Sales, Bake Sales, Friendship Tournaments, Garage Sales and Self Defense Clinics.
Masters have trained for many years, and over the course of years they have their favorite aspects of training; for Master Jansa, it is forms. When asked why he continues to train and serve in the World Tang Soo Do Association, his answer is, "I love being a part of the WTSDA because of the family I have created within the organization. In addition, I believe it is the best organization in the martial arts field as far as organization and traditions. I like that it remains traditional, while always planning for the future and changing appropriately with the times."

What makes your studio stand out from the rest:

Assistant Instructor Program; Leadership Program; Judging Certification; Specialty seminars during the year; After School PTA Program; Self-Defense classes in high schools and grade schools, and Amazing Birthday Parties!

Student Testimonials:

I love Eagle Academy and all their instructors. My son started October 2010. I couldn't help but sit on the edge of my seat as I watched in enjoyment and I felt the awesome energy. There was no question I wanted to be on that mat and so did my 8 year old daughter. Now our whole family are members. The instructors are great and the focus, respect, discipline, confidence, along with having so much fun is a great experience for our whole family! Thank you Eagle Academy!!!!“
~ The Mamon Family (5 members)

I first wanted to join Eagle Academy because I liked their Eagle Symbol and I got to break a board. Now that I've been there for almost two years, I've learned that karate is not about breaking boards. It's about self- defense, leadership, and community. I love the friends that I have made. The teachers are fun, caring, and patient. I love Ms. Tracey! Eagle Academy is so cool and fun!
~Ava Mieloszyk - 6th Gup (9 years old)

We love our karate class!! Master Jansa is great with the kids. He teaches real karate moves in a fun but serious environment. They also learn important skills like self-control, listening and how to follow directions. The school also holds great "other events" for our family to enjoy which also provides the opportunity to get to know the instructors and other families.
~ Taussig Family

Being a Black Belt is not just about what you can do physically, there are many spiritual components as well. The Jansa family is dedicated to providing the best training in the best environment possible and they are succeeding. Their students are the recipients of their hard work and positive environment. Eagle Academy doesn’t just make Black Belts. The Jansa’s instill life skills, such as, confidence to make the right decisions in the hardest of times. Life is getting harder for our children and they need to be able to get into something rewarding …Eagle Academy! The success of Eagle Academy is the success of each student at the academy. Supporting Eagle Academy is supporting a rewarding lifestyle for you and your family, now and in the future.

Great, family oriented martial arts studios. The strength and discipline the family has gained while working with Eagle will stay with us for a lifetime.

My introduction to Tang Soo Do was by watching my son in a Park District Program with Master Dan Jansa. I became very interested in training for a number of reasons, which range from self-defense to physical conditioning. I did not realize at the time the friendships that I would make, and how my love for Tang Soo Do would grow as I trained. I always find something new to learn, a different application to the skills that I have learned, and it never ceases to amaze me at how much knowledge the instructors have. When I have been asked how long I will continue to train, my immediate response has always been as long as possibly can. Tang Soo Do has become a big part of my life and who I become. I owe all of this to Eagle Academy and my Master Instructors
